Newcomers to Tennessee have 30 days from the time they establish permanent residency to obtain a Tennessee license. Information required: If you have a valid license from another state, bring that license and proof of your Social Security number. You will have to pass a vision test. Learner permits are available on 15th birthday, Intermediate Restricted License at age 16, and Intermediate Unrestricted Driver’s License at age 17. Applicants under 18 must bring their school attendance form, and a parent must sign a financial responsibility form. Call the office for additional details. Cost: Varies from $12.50 to $26.50.

Marriage Laws
Bradley County Courthouse, County Clerk’s Office. Proof of age required. Nineteen and under need consent of both parents and a Driver’s License. Over the age of 19, you are required to have a Driver’s License, Social Security card and Birth Certificate.

Property Taxes
Property taxes are due on Oct. 1 each year and are delinquent beginning March 1. A 1-percent interest rate per month and penalty charges are added to delinquent taxes, payable at the City Clerk’s office and/or the County Trustee’s office. There is no broad-based state income tax in Tennessee.

Pet Laws
For pets within the city limits, the ordinance requires that dogs must be confined, all pets must have rabies shots and wear identification tags indicating these shots, and all pets must be licensed with the city of Cleveland. Call the Animal Control Officer at 423-479-2122 if an animal needs to be picked up for any reason.

Voting Laws
