CLEVELAND, TN – The Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Christopher Beckstrand and Rob Cuthbertson, co-owners of Avail Senior Living, as the recipients of the 2026 Mel Bedwell Small Business Person of the Year Award. They will be recognized at the 33rd annual luncheon on May 21.

Since its inception in 2019 and its official opening in July 2021, Avail Senior Living has experienced significant year-over-year growth and investment while creating meaningful impact throughout the community. The business currently employs 71 team members and has become known for its compassionate, resident-focused approach to senior living and memory care.

Beckstrand and Cuthbertson were selected for their strong leadership, innovative vision, and dedication to serving both residents and families. Their hands-on leadership style, open-door philosophy, and commitment to creating a family-centered environment have helped Avail Senior Living become a trusted and valued part of the Cleveland and Bradley County community.

The award recognizes business leaders who exemplify the qualities of the late Mel Bedwell, including integrity, determination, enthusiasm, and community involvement. To be considered for this award, nominees should be leaders of small businesses displaying growth in the number of employees, an increase in sales or volume, innovativeness of the product or service offered, a thoughtful response to adversity, evidence of contributions by the nominee to aid community-oriented projects, and must have been in business at least three years.

“Chris and Rob have built more than a successful business. This team has created a culture of care and compassion that has positively impacted countless families in our community,” said Chamber President Mike Griffin. “Their commitment to servant leadership, investment in their team, and dedication to improving lives make them incredibly deserving of this recognition.”

Hosted annually during Small Business Month in May, the luncheon celebrates the entrepreneurs and small businesses that drive the local economy and strengthen the Cleveland and Bradley County community.
